What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of medical-grade ceramic, about half a millimeter thick, that are permanently bonded to the front surface of your teeth to change their color, shape, size, or alignment appearance. Unlike crowns, which cover the whole tooth, veneers preserve most of your natural tooth structure and only resurface what shows when you smile.

What problems do porcelain veneers fix?

  • Stains and discoloration that no longer respond to whitening
  • Chipped, cracked, or worn tooth edges
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Mildly crooked or uneven teeth
  • Misshapen or undersized teeth
  • A smile you keep hiding in photos

One treatment plan corrects all of it at once, which is why veneers are the foundation of nearly every smile makeover. The American Dental Association classifies veneers as a routine, well-established cosmetic procedure.

At Just Smile Miami we work exclusively with E-max lithium disilicate, a pressed ceramic prized for its strength and enamel-like translucency, and every veneer is hand-finished by our master ceramist in the lab inside our clinic.

What the $7,000 Package Includes

Most Miami clinics quote a per-veneer price, then add fees for exams, prep work, and any crowns or bridges you turn out to need. Our Full Smile package is one transparent price for everything:

  • Up to 20 premium E-max porcelain veneers
  • Full oral exam
  • Professional regular dental cleaning
  • Dental bridges within the design (premolar to premolar), if needed
  • Custom porcelain crowns within the design (premolar to premolar), if needed
  • Surface cavity treatment in the prep zone
  • Complete preparation work for every veneer
  • Final bonding, polishing, and bite calibration

Types of Veneers: Which One Is Right?

Not all veneers are equal. The material decides how your smile looks, how long it lasts, and what it costs per year of wear.

What about Lumineers and "no-prep" veneers? Lumineers are an ultra-thin brand of porcelain veneer that requires little or no enamel preparation. They work well for small cosmetic touch-ups, but because they are so thin, they mask deep discoloration and shape problems less effectively than E-max. At your consultation we will tell you honestly which option fits your case, even if it is the less expensive one.

Porcelain Veneers: Pros & Cons

An honest look, because veneers are excellent, but they are not for everyone.

Advantages

  • Resist staining better than natural enamel
  • Last 15 to 20 years with normal home care, and with good care, often a lifetime
  • Translucent, enamel-like finish that reads as natural
  • Fix color, shape, chips, and gaps in one treatment plan
  • Conservative: only ~0.5 mm of enamel is prepared

Considerations

  • Not reversible: prepared enamel does not grow back
  • Cosmetic procedure, so insurance rarely covers it
  • Heavy grinding can chip them, a night guard is needed
  • Gum disease or decay must be treated first
  • They may need replacement around 15 to 20 years, though it is not a hard rule, with proper care they can last a lifetime

Are Porcelain Veneers Right for You?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of E-max ceramic bonded to the front of your teeth. They are the treatment of choice when you want to permanently change the color, shape, size, or alignment appearance of your smile in one treatment plan instead of years of separate procedures.

You are likely a strong candidate if you have stained or discolored teeth that no longer respond to whitening, chipped or worn edges, small gaps, mildly crooked or uneven teeth, or a smile you simply keep hiding in photos. During your free consultation, Dr. Wendy Barrionuevo examines your enamel, bite, and gum health to confirm veneers are the right path. If a tooth needs more structural support, a porcelain crown or bridge is included in your package price rather than billed as a surprise extra.

Who is NOT a good candidate?

We will tell you honestly if veneers are not your best option. Active gum disease or untreated decay must be resolved first (surface cavity treatment in the prep zone is already included in your package). Severe grinding (bruxism) can shorten the life of any veneer, in those cases we plan a custom night guard as part of your treatment. And if your goal is mainly straightening rather than color or shape, clear aligners may serve you better and cost less. The consultation exists to find the right answer, not to sell you veneers.

Do veneers ruin your natural teeth?

No, this is the most common myth we hear. Modern E-max veneers require removing only a thin layer of enamel, roughly half a millimeter, so the tooth underneath stays healthy and structurally sound. The veneer then acts as a protective shell bonded to the front surface. What is true: the procedure is not reversible, which is exactly why we fit comfortable temporaries first and never bond anything until you have approved how your smile looks.

Veneers vs. composite: which one?

E-max porcelain resists staining and lasts 15 to 20 years with normal home care, and with good care, often a lifetime, while composite resin typically lasts 4 to 8 years and dulls faster. Porcelain costs more upfront but usually costs less per year of wear. If you want a lower entry price, ask us about composite veneers during your consultation, and we will give you an honest side-by-side for your case.

Alternatives to porcelain veneers

Veneers are not the only path to a better smile, and sometimes they are not the right one. Professional whitening is the answer when color is your only complaint and your enamel still responds to bleaching. Dental bonding repairs a single small chip for far less money, though it lasts only a few years. Clear aligners are the better tool when alignment is the real problem rather than color or shape. And porcelain crowns take over when a tooth is too damaged for a veneer to protect, which is why crowns are already included in our package when needed. Part of your free consultation is telling you plainly which of these fits your case, even when the answer is the less expensive one.

Caring for Your New Veneers

No special toothpaste, no food list to memorize. E-max porcelain is easier to keep bright than natural enamel.

Brush & flossTwice a day, exactly like natural teeth. Nothing special needed.
Keep checkupsRoutine visits protect the bond. We include a complimentary visit at 6 months with a regular dental cleaning.
Don't chew iceOr pens, or fingernails. The same advice as for natural enamel.
Night guardIf you grind at night, wear the custom guard we provide.
Coffee is finePorcelain veneers don't stain, not from coffee and not from wine.

With that, your veneers should look the way they did on reveal day for 15 to 20 years, and with good care, often a lifetime.

Porcelain Veneers FAQ

At Just Smile Miami, a complete smile makeover of up to 20 veneers costs $7,000 (regular price $9,500), or $4,500 for a single arch (one row of veneers). The price includes your exam, a regular cleaning, and any crowns or bridges within the design, from premolar to premolar. Quoted per tooth, porcelain veneers in Miami typically run $800 to $2,500 each at other clinics.
Yes. Your makeover takes 2 visits across 4 days: prep and digital scans on visit one, final bonding on visit two. It is possible because our porcelain lab is inside the clinic, so there is no shipping to an outside lab. We also offer a VIP 24-hour option for patients who need their finished smile by the next day.
High-grade E-max porcelain veneers last 15 to 20 years with normal brushing, flossing, and routine checkups, and with good care they often last a lifetime. The porcelain does not stain, so coffee and wine are no worry at all, unlike composite veneers.
The procedure is done under local anesthesia and most patients describe it as no more uncomfortable than a standard filling. You may have mild sensitivity for a few days after prep while wearing temporaries. Our team is known for putting nervous patients at ease, read our reviews and you will see it mentioned often.
Only if you want them to. Every set is custom designed for your face, age, and personality, from Hollywood-bright to ultra-natural with subtle characterization. You approve the design before anything is final, and we redesign at no cost if it is not right.
Yes. Plans start at $130/month with financing up to 60 months through our dental financing partners. You can pre-qualify online in minutes with no impact to your credit score.
No. Modern E-max veneers require removing only about half a millimeter of enamel, and the bonded veneer then protects the tooth surface. The treatment is not reversible, which is why we fit comfortable temporaries first and never finalize anything until you approve the result.
A full smile makeover covers up to 20 porcelain veneers, from second premolar to second premolar, which is what our $7,000 package includes. If you only need one row, a single arch is $4,500. Some patients only need 4 to 8 veneers on the upper front teeth. At your free consultation we will tell you exactly how many your smile needs, and quote accordingly.
Usually not. Veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure, so dental insurance rarely covers them. That is exactly why we keep one transparent price with all cosmetic treatment included and offer financing from $130/month with financing up to 60 months, most patients find it more manageable than they expected.
Only if you are veneering part of your smile. Porcelain does not change color with whitening products, so we match the veneer shade to your goal color from the start. If you are getting fewer than 20 veneers, we may recommend whitening your natural teeth first so everything matches, and we will plan that with you at the consultation.
